We have test results that confirm "Scout" as EE, meaning homozygous for the black gene. He is also homozygous for the Agouti gene which is responsible for the distribution of the black, restricting it to the legs, mane, tail, and points of the ears. He carries that allele in the homozygous state (A), the black will ALWAYS be restricted to the points and there will never be any black bodied foals. Bay and Buckskin are the only colors from this stallion. However, it can be altered by the roan or grey gene carried by the broodmare. All of Scout's babies have been bay or bay and white (tricolored) paints so far bred to black, sorrel, chestnut, and palomino. This knowledge is just another tool to help breeders get the color they want. As for us, we love all colors of the spectrum!!!
