The Self Ranch Show Schedule

WOW!!!

2007 was a huge success!

Together we won

10 buckles!

Here are just a few:

Poco Pepolena took Champion in Reining with Clay and Champion in Color with Tonya.

Imprsv. Southern Belle took Champion in Halter Mares with Tonya.

Choppo and Jacob took Champion in Pony Barrels, Champion Poles, Champion Flag and Champion Pony Western Pleasure.

Patches and Levi took Champion in Pony Walk & Pony Walk-Trot.

We also won trophies and awards for other placings but

right now I want to congratulate all the kids that showed with us this year!

Marisa Melendez and Belle in Barrel Racing, Pole Bending, Flag Racing, Speed, and Keyhole! She overcame some serious stage fright and took home some ribbons!!

Andres Melendez and Choppo in Pony Barrels, Pony Poles, and Pony Flag. Talk about a natural...he was the fastest and most fearless learner. He gave Jacob a run for his ribbons!

I regret that we do not have pictures of Seth Watson and Patches on Pony Barrels, Pony Flags, and Pony Poles. They were a great team!

Also, Hannah Watson with Choppo on Pony Barrels, Pony Flags, and Pony Poles. They were the odd couple but made tremendous accomplishments.

Then there was Alisha Watson who rode my Belle in Youth Western Pleasure, Walk-Trot, Youth Barrels, Flags, Poles, Speed, and Keyhole. She is excelling as a horsetrainer too. She originally brought her Belle over so that Clay could get the buck out of her but now she is training her own horse under the guidance of both Clay and I. She picks up everything very well and has a lot of finesse. Look for her on her own horse next year.

I wasn't able to carry a camera and help all the kids at the same time. I want to thank our friends who showed up at some of the shows and took some pictures. They are incredibly valuable to me and we are always looking for volunteers to help at the shows...from grooming to taking video to serving as a human hitching post. ;0) Please let us know if you are interested in helping and gaining some experience, we'd love to have you along for the ride too.

Watch out Clinton Anderson!!!!

I can't remember this little girls name. But I could see that look in her eye like I used to have when I went to a rodeo and dreamed of a rider letting me just touch their horse. If ever there were a horse she could ride, it would be Belle. I asked her and she jumped at the opportunity. Maybe we'll see her in the future with her own horse or pony.

Whew! It was a hard, fast ride and this cowboy and girl are worn out. We're gonna pull the shoes, wash the tack and put everything out to pasture for awhile. We'll kick it back up after the holidays and get ready for an even busier show schedule in '09. We're hoping to add some ApHA (pinto) and APHA (paint) shows and some NRHA (reining) too. We live for this kinda stuff and the kids are our source of joy ...jus' wish we had their energy!!!
